About Taxyearvo
Taxyearvo is a set of worksheets for the United Kingdom Self Assessment tax return. You type in what you earned, what you spent and which allowances apply, and each sheet shows the arithmetic that turns those figures into a tax bill, a set of payment dates or an amendment window. The sheets are free and need no account. A paid plan keeps each tax year's figures so the next return starts from the last one.
Why this site exists
This site exists because the arithmetic behind a Self Assessment return is not difficult but is spread across a dozen pages of guidance, and the calculators that do it mostly hide their workings behind a sign-up. Somebody filing their own return needs to see how the figure was reached, not just what it is, because they are the one who has to stand behind it.
Who it is for
People who file their own Self Assessment return: sole traders, freelancers, CIS subcontractors, landlords, and employees with income that has not already been taxed.
Not limited companies, not VAT-registered businesses filing VAT returns, not accountants filing for clients, and not people looking to hire someone to file for them.
What it does not do
- We do not file returns and we hold no HMRC credentials. Filing is done on HMRC's own service or through recognised software, with your own Government Gateway sign-in.
- We give no tax advice and we take no fee for sending you to anyone who does. Where a question needs an adviser we say so and stop.
