- How to pay self assessment tax, on the worked example
- £10,698
These are the four sheets a January return is actually worked from. The estimator turns income and expenses into a bill and the two instalments that follow it. The tax year planner shows which side of 5 April a receipt falls and when each deadline lands. The amendment sheet gives the window for changing a return you have already sent. The payment sheet works out what is due, and when, if you pay in stages. Each one shows its workings, so you can check the figure rather than trust it.
The rates, thresholds and deadlines these sheets apply are HMRC's published figures for the tax year you select; everything else is arithmetic on the numbers you typed.
